Dogs and Children

When managed properly dogs and children can be best friends. Dogs teach children unconditional love, how to wake up with a smile every morning, and respect for living creatures.

Never allow a child to do to a dog what you would not allow done to a toddler no ear pulling, jumping on, chasing after, screaming at, hitting, etc. www.archive.parade.com

Children can learn responsibility when caring for a pet BUT do not delude yourself into thinking your child or teen will care for the dog. In 90% of all households the Mother is the dog 's primary caretaker.

If you have children, are planning to have a baby, or planning to add a new dog to your family, please call for a consultation. We will help you prepare your dog for the new baby or your current children for a new dog. We can also help you choose the right dog for your family.

The consultation includes in home puppy proofing, temperament testing, child safety education and child dog safety.

Most kids get bitten by dogs they know, mainly by doing behavior that is upsetting to dogs. So, it's important to model appropriate behavior with the dog as well as making sure your child learns how to interact appropriately with them.

Educate yourself so your child and his friends won 't be a statistic. Every parent of a "bitten by dog " child never thought it would happen to them.
